Pet grooming policies

Sample Salon Policies With Safety and Scheduling in View

These fictional policies demonstrate how a grooming salon can set expectations for booking, deposits, cancellations, pet health, handling, matting and pickup. They do not create a real agreement or apply to any physical business.

Medical, sedation, aggression and emergency questions must be reviewed by qualified people.

Demo notice The salon, staff, bookings, deposits and services are fictional. These policies show realistic wording for a software demonstration and do not create rights, charges, appointments or service obligations.

Booking and deposits

Appointments Begin With Accurate Service and Pet Details

The selected service, pet species, approximate size, coat condition and handling notes must be complete enough for a reasonable starting plan. The salon may request direct staff review before confirming a pet whose needs do not fit the standard booking options.

Sample deposit terms

  • A fictional deposit equal to 25% of the sample starting price may appear at checkout.
  • The deposit is processed only through Stripe test mode and does not move real funds.
  • A protected hold may temporarily reserve seeded availability while the demo checkout is completed.
  • A test confirmation does not reserve a real groomer or create a service contract.

Cancellations and no-shows

Give at Least 24 Hours’ Notice in the Sample Policy

The fictional salon asks for cancellation or rescheduling at least 24 hours before the selected time. A late change may forfeit the demo deposit, and a new sample deposit may be required before another test booking.

No-show example

A customer who does not arrive and does not contact the salon may lose the fictional deposit and be asked to complete a new test checkout before selecting another seeded time. Because this is a demo, no real financial obligation arises.

Late arrival and pickup

Timing Affects the Pet and the Rest of the Schedule

Late arrival can reduce the time available for a safe groom. The fictional salon may shorten the service, move it to another seeded time or cancel it when the remaining window is not enough.

Customers are expected to arrange prompt pickup after notification. Extended or repeated delays may lead to a fictional supervision fee in a live-policy example because staff must continue monitoring the pet and managing limited space.

Pet health

Disclose Information That Could Affect Grooming

Relevant health, mobility, skin, breathing, seizure and medication information should be shared directly with salon staff before service. Groomers may observe concerns, but they do not diagnose or treat medical conditions.

  • Do not bring a pet with urgent symptoms, active contagious illness or an uncontrolled medical concern into a routine grooming setting.
  • Open wounds, significant swelling, bleeding, infection, pain or parasites may require the service to be declined or stopped.
  • Vaccination requirements are not specified in the source materials and must be set by a live salon before use.
  • Sedation and medication questions belong with a veterinarian and qualified staff, not GroomAI.

Handling and service limits

Comfort and Control Take Priority Over Completion

The salon may change, pause or end a grooming step when movement, fear, aggression or physical condition makes continued work unsafe. Completion of every planned step is not guaranteed.

High-risk handling

A history of biting, scratching, escape attempts, panic or previous sedation must be disclosed before the appointment. A qualified person decides whether the pet can be accepted, whether a modified service is appropriate or whether another care setting is required.

No automated approval GroomAI can record a note and direct the question to staff. It must not approve an aggressive pet, recommend restraint, provide sedation guidance or manage an emergency.

Matting and coat condition

A Safer Shorter Finish May Replace the Requested Style

Tight matting can pull on the skin and make prolonged brushing painful. After assessing the coat, the groomer may recommend a shorter clip, a modified service or referral when the condition is outside the salon’s safe capability.

  • Routine brushing is included in the relevant sample services.
  • Extended dematting, compacted undercoat and coat correction can add time and change pricing.
  • Hidden irritation or skin concerns may become visible after mats are removed.
  • Reference photos do not guarantee a style when the coat lacks the required length or condition.

Emergency situations

Urgent Decisions Require Direct Human Action

If a pet shows signs of serious distress, injury or an urgent medical problem, grooming should stop and staff should follow the salon’s live emergency procedure. The owner or emergency contact should be reached, and veterinary care should be sought when appropriate.

This fictional demo does not operate an emergency line, transport service or physical salon. Do not submit urgent requests through the chat, booking notes or contact form.

Demo status

No Real Appointment, Payment or Service Obligation

All groomers, availability, confirmations, deposits, fees and policy outcomes shown on this site are sample data. Completing a test booking or accepting these fictional policies does not form a contract or require either party to act.

Review the Terms of Use for the full demo limitations and the Privacy Policy before entering any sample data.

The practical principle

A Policy Should Make the Next Decision Clear

Good policy language does more than list penalties. It tells customers what to disclose, what staff may change, when a service can stop and where a high-risk question should go.
